Scubapro has announced the launch of its Galileo G3 dive computer, replacing the classic – but slightly clunky – G2 with a sleek new watch-style dive computer, which retains all of the Galileo series’ innovations packaged into a modern display with a classic timepiece look.

The new Galileo 3 (G3) offers all the features and functions of its predecessor together with timekeeping features for daily topside use. The housing and bezel are made of stainless steel, and the lens is sapphire glass for extreme surface hardness and scratch resistance.

The high-resolution, full-colour TFT LCD display is designed to be easy to read at any angle, and the rotatable, backlit bezel, coated with a self-luminescent material, is intended to ensure excellent visibility in all conditions.

The intuitive Galileo menu design is retained, now with four button controls to navigate through the G3’s dive modes, algorithms, screen styles, colour schemes and other personalised dive management options.

For underwater use, the G3 provides a choice of algorithms between the Predictive Multi-Gas (PMG) Bühlmann ZHL-16 ADT MB (Microbubble) PMG or the ZHL-16 GF (Gradient Factors) model, and three dive modes – Scuba, Gauge and Freediving.

Scuba mode has settings available for predictive multi-gase, trimix, CCR and sidemount diving; and wireless air integration through the optional Smart+ Pro transmitter monitors tank pressure to provide both true remaining bottom time (RBT) and allow air consumption to be factored into decompression calculations.

The G3’s personal dive management functions include PDIS (Profile Dependent Intermediate Stops), which calculates intermediate stops based on Nitrogen loading, previous dives, breathing mixes, and microbubble levels, allowing divers to adjust the level of conservatism in the algorithm to match their experience level, age, and physical conditioning.

An optional heart rate monitor (sold separately) delivers additional, personalised data, while diving or when engaged in topside activities, for which the G3 provides a Sport mode with functions including a swim stroke counter, activity counter and stopwatch.

The G3 is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery and has a Bluetooth low-energy interface through which divers can download their dive data to any iOS or Android device, PC or Mac.
